Cloth Diaper Wipes Solution

Since I started using cloth diapers I have been doing everything that will help my pocket book and the enviroment and the one way I could do this was to use cloth diaper wipes. They can be home made and you can just use regular water or you can make your own cloth diaper wipes solution and I just place all of this in an empty wipees box and it works great!

Here is a Basic Diaper Wipes Solution Recipe:

2 tablespoons baby shampoo or wash

2 tablespoons oil (food grade cooking oil – not baby oil or mineral oil )

2 cups distilled water

Mix in a jar and then pour over wipes in your old wipees container. Store extra solution in the fridge.

This is so easy to make and save money with. I can get a huge bottle of baby shampoo at the Dollar Tree and that lasts me forever.

If you want to make your own cloth wipes you can do a search on this blog to find an easy way to make them.

My Stash Must Be Reproducing!!

At least that is what I am telling my hubby. I have gotten more cloth diapers and have some more on the way in fluffy mail!! I have been buying some AIO’s and a few fitteds. I also have been getting some inserts. My LO is getting to be a heavy wetter and I have been having to add an insert in his diapers to give him more soaker power. Especially at night.
I will take some pics of my ever changing and growing stash tomorrow.

Cloth Menstrual Pads (Mama Pads, Mama Cloth)

I have been writing about how much I love cloth diapers and have been reading about mamas using cloth pads for a while now. So I decided that I would try them. I got some and love them and have even been making my own. (SEE PICs) I used some very soft flannel, a stuffer layer made from a Gerber prefold, and an outer layer of neon green pul. Very easy to make. I used one of the ones I bought as a pattern. You can also find many patterns online for free. If you do not want to make them yourself , you can find them at many places online , like www.nurturedfamily.com. I love them and they are really good for you and the earth.

Babies Sleep Better

My Little one has always been one to wake up in the middle of the night and then not want to go back to sleep. He would just get up and play! So one thing that I found that I love since switching to cloth diapers, besides his horrible rash being gone completely, was that he sleeps so much deeper and longer. Great for him and me. I am so glad that I made the switch to cloth. I only wish that I had done it sooner. Going to the doctors all of the time for his horrible rash and trying different medicines and such. All of the time it was the diapers!! Now he is so much happier.

Prefolds or AIO’s?? Does Anyone Else Do This??

I have been using prefolds and covers for a while now! When I first started out using cloth diapers I used AIO’s and then I sold all of them and started using prefolds and Wiggle Worm Bottoms covers, Now I have been buying AIO’s again and not reaching for the prefolds anymore. Am I just lazy?? Does anyone go through cycles like this??
